Obituary Excerpt
Earl Marvin Jacklin, age 101, from Sandy, Utah passed away Sunday July 11, 2021. He was born in Gannet, Idaho to Ross O. Jacklin and Edna A. Fitt on April 12, 1920. He was a cute little blond tyke with curiosity to spare. From his father, he learned to be a handyman and a great fisherman. From his mother, he developed faith in God and a love of reading. He graduated from Salt Lake East High School where he earned a little money working in the school book store, then landed a job at Salt Lake Hardware and earned good money during the Depression. He was just a young man when the call to World War II came. In the US Army, he was trained in radar, a new technology, and quickly shipped out where he served our country throughout Europe, until the end of the war. He then studied electrical engineering at the University of Utah and found his eternal sweetheart, Enid Riches, marrying her in the Salt Lake Temple.
