JustServe Opportunities for Youth

In partnership with JustServe, the Utah Area Presidency invites all Young Women and Men organizations to join in community service during the month of April in cooperation with the Global Youth Service Days scheduled for the month.
Global Youth Service is an international organization calling for “young people to devote time to serve their communities.” We desire each stake and ward to organize and respond to this call to serve. We desire our youth to join with young people in more than 100 countries to participate in these days of service. Rendering such service is consistent with the Utah Area goal of strengthening the rising generation by “encouraging giving service.”
We ask leaders to encourage the young men and young women in each ward to register at JustServe.org and use the website to find appropriate projects for their service. The youth of the church along with their leaders are encouraged to support the Global Youth Service throughout the month of April.
Following Global Youth Service Month in April, we encourage our youth to continue utilizing JustServe.org to find regular service opportunities in your local community. Regular service activities are a vital part of our youth programs. Service teaches youth the joy of living the gospel when they bless the lives of others and pursue their sacred purpose. JustServe projects create an opportunity where youth can give service, develop leadership qualities, and minister to others. They will feel the love of the Good Shepherd. Offering service helps youth develop Christlike attributes. By serving people in need in the community, youth learn to act in His name, serve with His power, and bless with His love.
Questions about this service can be directed through the Stake Relief Society Presidents to the Coordinating Council JustServe Specialists. The attached flyer can be used to encourage participation and will link the participants directly to JustServe.org using the QR code on the flyer.
From Ben Feinauer – Good News Regarding Ben, Jr.
Silvercrest Ward,
We wanted to give you all an update on Benny’s surgery. As most of you know he was going in to have his aortic valve repaired/replaced and repairs to his ascending aorta. Initially the doctors wanted to see if they could repair his valve but after seeing the valve, they ended up replacing the aortic valve with Benny’s own pulmonary valve and using a homograft value to replace his pulmonary valve. They also replaced his ascending aorta from the valve to and partially into the aortic arch. Surgery lasted a little over 7 hours.
The doctors said, while more complex than anticipated, the surgery went very well, and they were very pleased with the results. That night they were able to pull the breathing tube and he was able to talk and joke. Since then, he has made tremendous progress. As of today, Saturday, the pacemaker has been pulled from his chest and the chest drainage tubes will be coming out tomorrow. He has been walking and is in good spirits. The staff is amazed at his strength and pace of recovery as well as his tolerance for pain. They are anticipating that he will be released from the hospital Monday.
Mari and I know this miracle is an answer to prayers and cannot begin to express how much we appreciate all the prayers, fasting, well wishes, care packages, text, etc. from all of you. We look forward to seeing you all in a week and a half once we are cleared to get on the plane to fly home!
Ben
