Newborn Refugee/Immigrant Mother and Baby Kits**
Each life is precious. Refugee and immigrant women in Utah have much higher infant mortality rates than the general population. Most cannot afford health insurance for themselves, their birth experience, or their newborns. These kits will be assembled at a United Nations conference in Utah Co., this fall and will be given to vetted Utah clinics and birth centers who support refugee and immigrant mothers and their babies.
Specific items needed for the New Mother and Baby kits: All items must be new and unopened:
- Newborn size disposable diapers (box of 84)
- Pkg of 56 sensitive skin diaper wipes-fragrance free
- Pkg of 26 heavy/night maxi pads
- Pkg of 36 disposable nursing pads
- One baby bottle
- Pkg of newborn pacifiers
- 0-3 mo. footed sleeper (pkg of two)
- Newborn hat
- Pkg of 3 long sleeved white onesies
- Pkg of newborn socks
- 30″ x 40″ warm baby blanket
Put donations in a bag, tie or close the bag to keep items dry and clean. To facilitate sorting, please label clearly on outside what the bag contains.

DESERET INDUSTRIES HAS SAID THAT AMAZON PACKAGES CAN BE RECEIVED AT THE LOCATION LISTED BELOW IF THE LABEL SAYS: DESERET INDUSTRIES ATTN: UNITED NATIONS REFUGEE PROJECT, (Salt Lake Co.) Murray Deseret Industries, 11 E. 4500 S., Murray, Utah 84107 This project is ideal for school classes, youth groups, clubs, congregations, neighborhoods, and service organizations to work collaboratively to collect needed items, do the sorting , bagging and labeling, and then have one or two people deliver donations to the locations noted above.
